Basement and First Floor DeckWe broke ground on the new basement on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 around 2:30 in the afternoon. We've been working on the house in short bursts since then, with breaks due to weather and other projects that our friends are involved in. The last break was the longest, from May 30th to June 10th - a perfect stopping place since Leah and Benjamin's baby was born on May 31st and they're an essential part of our building crew. We're thrilled to welcome little John to the family and will have to take photos of him coming on the job for the very first time in what will probably be a long and productive lifetime of such projects.
As of today (June 10th), the basement is mostly finished and the joists and deck have been installed for the first floor of the addition. Over the next week, the backfilling will probably be finished on the basement and the rough framing will be completed, taking our big hole in the ground up to an actual house with a yard behind it again. The Very Muddy Stage is just about complete and the Very Sawdusty Stage is about to begin. |
