Four MonthsThis was an extremely busy month - so busy, in fact, that the time to take a good four month picture came and went and I never got it. Construction began on our house on May 8th and it was almost non-stop busy until the middle of June, so Abby's four month birthday on May 28th just breezed on by. I do have a very nice formal picture of Abigail and her brand-new cousin John together a few days after John's birth on the 31st of May, which means she was four months and he was a few days old. If I ever get a copy of that, it'll do for a four-month portrait!
Overall, Abby is changing quickly from a tiny infant into a baby getting ready to move on her own. She is rolling a lot and managed to roll herself between the pillows and off our bed this month, which means no more naps on our bed unless I have a complete 360-degree barricade. She was almost as surprised by the fall as we were. |

She also has completely skipped the pacifier and gone for her thumb this month and I've pretty much accepted that she's going to be a thumb-sucker until she's older. What's funny is she likes to suck her thumb with both hands on her face, so I'm not sure how she breathes when she's doing that! I wasn't sure how she was going to handle all the busyness surrounding construction, but it turns out she really enjoys it and will spend hours watching the big machines and all the activity.
All her long newborn black hair fell out on the top of her head and around the sides this month, but she kept a little ice-cream swirl of longer light-brown hair on the very crown of her head. It honestly looked like she had a reverse tonsure for a few weeks there, but we're starting to see just the tips of very light brown hair growing in the bald ring, so hopefully she'll have her full head of hair back soon. It's very fluffy and curly like mine, so she'll be a fuzzy girl soon.
