7 Months: Starting To MoveThere aren't a lot of big changes to report between six months and seven months for Susannah. She gets stronger and more sure of herself every day, including being able to pick up small things with her finger and thumb that used to frustrate her, but overall she is much the same. She has learned that she can get around by sitting on the wood floor and scooching herself backwards and in circles on the slippery floor and she thinks that's a lot of fun. She isn't at all interested in being on her hands and knees though, even on carpet. I'm guessing she's not going to crawl for at least another month or two because she hates being on her stomach and wants to sit up instead.
She still has no teeth, but I still feed her small amounts since she is extremely interested and I figure a little applesauce or plain yogurt is probably something to sort of prime her insides for full-time food in a few months. |

Susannah has taken a liking to playing piano and will sit by me and bang on the keys for a while if I sit down to play. She has officially decided she wants nothing more to do with the bouncy chair, however, so she is either sitting on the floor on her own or is in the booster chair with the tray on it. She's pretty good about sitting on her own, though sometimes she still stops paying attention and shoves herself over backward, which results in a loud thump followed by an indignant yell. She always acts like she can't believe something so terrible happened to her and tells me about it at length. She doesn't just cry, she unintelligibly explains why she's crying.
She has also taken to grabbing me by the hair at the nape of the neck and attacking me with very wet kisses. It kind of hurts but she is so fervent about it that I end up laughing instead of teaching her to be a little more gentle. She is definitely a very cuddly child and I'm having to really work to teach her to sleep in her own bed at night. If she had her way, she would sleep all night curled against me with her head on my shoulder. I love her and love her cuddles, but I can't fall deeply asleep that way, so I wait until she is very soundly asleep and then tuck her back into her own bed.
Thankfully, she is holding to a twice-a-night wakeup routine for the most part - once around midnight or 1, then again sometime around 4 before waking up for the morning around 7 or 8. Lately she is skipping her evening nap and falling asleep for the night between 9 and 9:30. Talk about a perfect sleep schedule...
Susannah is finally wearing 6-month clothes full time and she and Abby are sharing size 4 diapers. They're a little big for Susannah but it still works and is much easier for us since buying one size of diapers is a lot more convenient than two. It's really high time to potty-train Abigail when she and Susannah wear the same diapers.
She and Abigail interact a lot now and will actually "play" to a certain extent, though I have to keep Abigail from taking advantage and just doing things she thinks would be neat to Susannah. Abby calls her "Dannah Mary" as often as "Baby" now and talks to her like another person instead of a strange little live dolly. Susannah has a very jolly personality and although she's very much Mama's girl right now, I see the day coming when she is a friendly little sweetheart. Abby is cute and spicy, Susannah is sweet and adoring. I love my little girls!
